Hijjah 2, 1433, October 18, 2012, SPA -- European Union leaders were set Friday to signal their full support for international and Arab Syria envoy Lakhdar Brahimi as he seeks to broker a truce in the conflict-torn country. "The European Council stresses its deep concern with the increasingly deteriorating situation in Syria," reads a draft of the summit declaration, which leaders were expected to approve according to dpa. "It fully supports the efforts of Lakhdar Brahimi in finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis." In the document, EU leaders also "strongly" condemn Damascus over the shelling in Turkey and call on all parties to "put an end to all forms of violence, take special measures to protect all vulnerable groups" and allow the delivery of humanitarian aid.
