AlQa'dah 30, 1433, Oct 16, 2012, SPA -- The Specialized Criminal Court (SCC) issued, in its session held here today, preliminary verdicts against (17) defendants, comprised (16) Saudis and a Yemeni. The decision came after the Court of Appeals in Riyadh repealed preliminary verdicts issued against the 17 defendants in an earlier trial. Among the charges leveled against the 17 defendants by the Public Prosecutor were formation of a terrorist cell linked to Al-Qaeda, plotting terrorist operations targeting oil installations in the Kingdom, attempts to assassinate prominent Saudi personalities to destabilize the security for the purposes of al-Qaeda and establishment of training camps for the recruits for al-Qaeda both inside the Kingdom and in Iraq. The defendants were also accused of arranging their communication with coordinators in Syria for the infiltration into Iraq and providing weapons and financial support for such acts.
