AlQa'dah 30, 1433, Oct 16, 2012, SPA - Argentina's navy chief stepped down after one of the country's ships was seized in Ghana over a debt dispute, DPA reported. Admiral Carlos Alberto Paz was replaced as head of the navy by his deputy, Vice Admiral Daniel Alberto Martin, the Defence Ministry said Monday. The Libertad training ship has been unable to leave the port of Tema for two weeks after a court in the West African country seized the three-masted ship on a petition from NML Capital, a subsidiary of the US hedge fund Elliott Associates. The fund said the Argentine government owes it 300 million dollars after Buenos Aires defaulted on its debts in 2001 during an economic collapse. The Defence Ministry said an investigation was being conducted into who was responsible for sending the Libertad to Ghana.
