AlQa'dah 29, 1433, Oct 15, 2012, SPA -- The Bahraini Foreign Ministry summoned today Iranian Chargé D'affaires Mahdi Islami and slammed the Iranian persistence to deliberately and wrongfully attribute false information to Bahraini officials and disseminate them in the media. Hamad Ahmed Al-Amer, Bahraini Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Regional and GCC Affairs, dismissed as untrue claims by the Iranian mass media that Bahrain had requested Iranian mediation. Al-Amer underscored Bahrain's unwavering and firm stance that what is happening in the country is an internal affair and any interference through mediation or other methods is unacceptable. He asserted that Bahrain did not request any mediation from the Iranian minister with regards to its domestic affairs as this would be an encroachment on its sovereignty and independence as well as on dealing with its citizens. He also demanded the Iranian diplomat that his country stop interfering in Bahrain's internal affairs, particularly through incitement via its mass media as well as through ties and contacts with specific groups in the Bahraini community. Al-Amer stressed that Iran must adhere to the rules of international diplomatic work and relations as well as the principles of good neighborliness and the Charter of the United Nations. These rules, he added, reject and denounce all forms of interference in the states' internal affairs directly or indirectly or through political, religious or media incitement with fraud, lies and fabrications.
