AlQa'dah 20, 1433, Oct 6, 2012, SPA - The Committee of Financial and Economic Cooperation and the Committee of Governors of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States held a meeting here today under the chairmanship of the Minister of Finance Dr. Ibrahim bin Abdulaziz Al-Assaf with the participation of GCC Ministers of Finance and the Executive Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Christine Lagarde. In his opening speech, Dr. Al-Assaf welcomed the GCC Ministers of Finance and the IMF Executive Director who participated for the first time in the meetings of the GCC Committee of Financial and Economic Cooperation. He commended IMF efforts to achieve economic and financial stability in the world and its support to Member States. For her part, Lagarde praised the great roles played by GCC States and their contribution to achieving financial and economic stability in the GCC States, noting that these countries are among oil-exporting countries playing important roles to maintain global economic stability.
