AlQa'dah 11, 1433, Sep 27, 2012, SPA -- U.S. President Barack Obama Thursday welcomed an agreement between Sudan and South Sudan on many critical issues. The president said in a statement that the people of both nations have suffered due to decades of conflict and that they deserve peace - "a peace that can only be achieved through continued dialogue and negotiation, sustained implementation of the agreements reached to date, and steadfast work to resolve remaining issues." President Obama said that the leaders of Sudan and South Sudan have chosen to take another step away from conflict toward a future "in which their citizens can live in dignity, security, and prosperity."
