AlQa'dah 8, 1433, Sep 24, 2012, SPA -- Kazakhstan's president appointed Serik Akhmetov, the former deputy prime minister, as new prime minister Monday, succeeding Karim Massimov, who led the government since 2007 before resigning earlier today. Parliament has already approved the appointment, local media reported. President Nursultan Nazarbayev said Massimov left of his own consent, and added there would be no significant cabinet reshuffle.
