AlQa'dah 3, 1433, Sep 19, 2012, SPA -- The Speaker of the European parliament Martin Schulz praised the remarkable progress of the GCC European relations in different areas, noting the importance of exerting more efforts for boosting bilateral relations linking the European Union with the member countries of the GCC to take a more strategic dimension in the political, economic, cultural and parliamentary levels. Schulz strongly denounced attempts to blaspheme religions and their followers and defame civilizations and cultures of others, a matter he said would only give chance to increasing violence and acts of terror. In this extent, he expressed absolute rejection of the recent insults to Prophet Mohammed, in reference to the film offending the prophet (pbuh). In a joint press conference with the Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Shiekh, who is also head of the GCC delegation to the European parliament, following a meeting with him at the European Parliament in the Belgium capital of Brussels today, Schulz said humiliating religious figures and sanctuaries of nations are running contrary to the recent calls for dialogue and respect of others, noting that he is very much interested to get benefit from the Islamic civilization and lessons from its values and principles. Schulz said the meeting between the two sides was very fruitful discussing aspects of cooperation between GCC and Europe to the benefit of their peoples. --More
