AlQa'dah 1, 1433, Sep 17, 2012, SPA -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says Turkey's security forces have killed or captured close to 500 Kurdish rebels in fighting in the past month. According to AP, Erdogan said on Monday that operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, would end only after the rebels lay down arms. The call comes amid an upsurge in violence between government forces and the PKK, which is fighting for self-rule in southeast Turkey. Suspected Kurdish rebels detonated a roadside bomb Sunday in eastern Turkey, killing eight police officers.
