A contracting maintenance company was held responsible for abrupt cut-off of Oxygen supplies to the intensive care unit of Hail General Hospital, leading to the death of a woman coinciding to be hospitalized in the ICU. Accordingly, the Ministry decided to terminate Sinaf International company's contract, bar it from competing to the Ministry's future bids and pay the necessary fines following a report by the high-level fact-finding committee assigned by Minister of Health Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabee'a. Despite acquitting the Hospital's medical and nursing staff, the committee will continue investigations with vacating staff related to the case. No clue was found to link the death of the patient and the Oxygen cut off, the Committee said in the report which also recommended that the file of the deceased be re-studied by a team of specialists to verify the safety of medical procedures in the ICU. The report said that the company's official in charge of monitoring and changing Oxygen cylinders was not available at the time of the gas sudden suspension.
