Global and regional developments in e-services and e-participation will be highlighted later today at the opening of the "GCC e- Participation and e-Governance Forum" at the Westin Abu Dhabi Golf Resort. More than 200 e-governance experts from key government bodies in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the rest of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will participate in the two-day Forum, which is being organized by Abu Dhabi University's Knowledge Group (ADUKG). The experts are set to tackle the challenges that face governments in delivering the latest trends in e-services to a technology savvy and demanding public, according to a report of the UAE news agency "WAM". Discussions during the first day of the forum will highlight the global trends in e-Governance and e-Participation. It will also focus on several vital topics including: promoting e-participation and citizen involvement in decision-making, driving the enhancement of services through location based information, delivering outstanding e-services to the public, taking a citizen-oriented approach to providing social services, streamlining operations with the government resource planning system, and how government bodies can defend against next generation cyber attacks, CEO of Abu Dhabi University's Knowledge Group Dr. Ahmed Badr explained. He lauded the efforts and continuous support the forum has received from various government bodies in the UAE and other GCC countries, and their keenness in participating to share their pioneering work in e-governance and e-participation.
