The United Nations announced today that Mukhtar Lamani, a Canadian diplomat of a Moroccan origin, was appointed Head of the administration of the office of the international envoy for the Syrian crisis in Damascus Al-Akhdar Al-Ibrahimi. Martin Nesirky, a UN spokesman, said in a statement that Lamani is a veteran diplomat with great experiences, citing his position as representative of the United Nations to the Islamic Conference Organization 1998-2002 and envoy to the Arab League office in Baghdad 2006-2007.
