The Arab League Foreign Ministers Council today called for more support for the government of Yemen to enable it overcome the current challenges and pass the transitional phase to rehabilitation and evade the negative impact of the current political and economic crisis. The Council also welcomed the outcome of the Consultative Group Meeting held yesterday in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, citing Arab and international pledges to support Yemen with more than $6 billion. On the other hand, the Council welcomed the democratic process witnessed by Libyans, citing the 7 July 2012 general elections which was described by Arab and international observers as transparent and fair. The Council lauded the efforts being exerted by the Libyan authorities to achieve security, stability, national reconciliation and hold a democratic system that bring about justice, equality, liberty and prosperity to all Libyan people. The meeting expressed support to Libyan authorities to chase the political fugitives accused to have robbed public money and properties and called on other parties abroad to either extradite them to Libya or bring them to justice.
