Egypt's President Mohammed Mursi appointed a new national intelligence chief and sacked the governor of the north Sinai Province on Wednesday after gunmen killed 16 border guards there, Reuters cited a presidency spokesman as saying. Mursi appointed Major General Mohammed Ahmed Zaki as Commander of the Presidential Guard, Major General Mohammed Rifaat Abdulwahed Shahata as Acting Chief of General Intelligence and sent Major General Mohammed Murad Muwafi, the Chief of Intelligence, to retirement and sacked the Governor of North Sinai. He also appointed Ambassador Mohammed Fathi Rufaa Al-Tahtawe as Chief Court of the President of the Republic and instructed the Minister of Defense and Military Production to appoint a new Military Police Chief. -- SPA
