Recent typhoons wreaking havoc across eastern China left six people dead and six people missing as of Saturday, UPI quoted officials as saying. One person died and five others were missing after a bridge they were crossing in Dalian, Liaoning province, Friday was collapsed by floodwater, China's official Xinhua news agency reported. At least five other people died and one remained missing in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian and Shandong provinces due to floods, officials said. Meanwhile, three railways, all connecting Liaoning province's capital city of Shenyang to other parts of the province, were inundated with water, causing delays for at least 16 trains Saturday morning, the Shenyang railway bureau said in a statement. In Liaoning, heavy rains caused traffic delays on 18 major roads Saturday, officials said. Parts of the province received more than eight inches of rain as of 4 a.m., with one city receiving 16.5 inches. Flooding forced the evacuation of more than 1 million people in China's eastern provinces, Xinhua said.
