Iraqi lawmaker Hamed al-Mutlaq survived a roadside bomb explosion Saturday which injured two of his bodyguards, dpa quoted local media as reporting. The bombing occurred in the area of Aby Gharib, west of the Iraqi capital Baghdad as al-Mutlaq was driving in a motorcade, said Iraqi website Sumaruiya News. "I don't accuse anyone of standing behind this attempt to assassinate me," al-Mutlaq said. The attack comes three days after the Iraqi government said that 325 people had been killed by violence in July, making it the highest monthly toll since August 2010.
