Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, who is also Chairman of Riyadh Development Authority and Chairman of the Supervising Committee for the Implementation of Public Transport in the city of Riyadh, today announced that four international consortiums, including the world's train-building and operating conglomerates, have qualified to bid for the implementation of Riyadh metro. He said the nomination of the four consortiums came in compliance with the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to choose the qualifiers to the project according to the most high-Tec levels of international professional experiences. He added that the project attracted the world's biggest number and state-of-the-art companies that would be requested to implement the project within the required transparency and punctuality. The first consortium was led by Fenci and including, among others, Siemens of Germany, Al-Mabani of Saudi Arabia, Contractors Union Co. of Saudi Arabia and ECOM of the U.S. The second consortium was led by Bombarde of Canada, and includes, among others, Al-Rajhi Holding Co. of Saudi Arabia, Al-Arrab for Contracts of Saudi Arabia, Arab Peninsula for Contracts of Saudi Arabia, GS for Engineering and Contracts of Korea, and Saudi Arabian Frecene The third consortium, led by F. C. Consortium of Spain, and includes, among others, Samsung C. & T. Corporation of Korea The fourth consortium, led by Strabag of Austria, and includes, among others, Ansaldo S. T. S. for Control Systems of Italy, Stadler of Switzerland, Bescis S.A. of Belgium, Al-Ali Al-Suwailem Group of Saudi Arabia, Larsen & Turbo of India, Hider for Consultations of Britain, Warly Barsoners of the U.S. Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz said the four consortiums who were chosen out of 38 bidders were asked to present their technical and financial offers within four months. Each of the four bidders includes different companies specialized in certain necessary professions needed for the implementation of the project e.g. train manufacturing, metro tunnels digging, civil works, flyovers and tunnels, control and operation systems, mechanical and electrical works, designing and giant projects management, he said. He added that the result of bidding qualification for Riyadh city's busses which includes 16 international consortiums will also soon be announced.
