The Ministry of Interior warned people against responding to received-calls or SMS messages calling for donations or assistance for individuals through impersonating names of social or military figures. The Ministry said that security authorities have information about an organized network of residents helped by citizens communicates directly or via SMS with financiers and businessmen to convince their victims that the amounts to be paid for needy people are subsidies and donations. The Ministry explained that one of their ways used in receiving funds is the direct receipt of money hand-in-hand or by transferring it to bank accounts with the consent of their owners, withdrawing those funds by ATM cards handed to them by the owners of these accounts and transferring these amounts to their countries through persons of their nationality in return for a commission. The Ministry stressed non-negligence in handing over ATM cards to other people or allow them to use their personal bank accounts in such operations, calling on anyone subject to such methods for reporting immediately to the authorities.
