At least 12 bodies have been recovered after a ferry carrying more than 250 people sank off the coast of Tanzania, officials said Wednesday, but added there were "some" survivors. The overcrowded vessel had been en route from the coastal city of Dar-es-Salaam to the Indian Ocean archipelago of Zanzibar. A rescue operation was ongoing. The BBC reported that the ship had run into strong winds. More than two dozen children were believed to have been onboard, the broadcaster said.
