Seven miners have been killed in a gas outburst in central China's Hunan province on Sunday, local authorities said. The accident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. at the Xiangzhong Coal Mine in the city of Lianyuan, Xinhua quoted the city government as saying in a press release. Thirty nine managed to escape. The gas outburst was triggered as workers were doing the drilling work underground, an initial investigation showed. An further investigation into the exact cause of the accident is under way.
