The General President of Affairs of Holy Mosque in Makkah and Prophet's Mosque in Madinah, Sheikh Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sudais, has expressed his thanks to and appreciation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for his order to implement a major expansion of the Prophet's Mosque in Madinah to accommodate more than 1,600,000 worshipers. In an address on this occasion, Sheikh Dr. Al-Sudais said that this is the largest expansion in the history of the Prophet's Mosque, noting that the royal order came as an extension to the King's attention and care for the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah to provide the best facilities and services to pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors of the Prophet's Mosque to perform their rituals easily and comfortably.
