About 150,000 angry protesters gathered Friday in the Japanese capital to express their opposition to the plan to restart a nuclear reactor at the weekend, organizers said. The demonstration was the largest since the nation's worst nuclear disaster in March 2011. The streets surrounding the prime minister's office were filled with men and women of all ages with placards two days before reactor3 at Oi Nuclear Power Plant on the Sea of Japan coast is to be reactivated. Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has approved the restart of reactors3 and 4 at the plant, run by Kansai Electric Power Co. The operator is reportedly to reactivate reactor 4 in mid-July.
