The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said it was open to adjusting the terms of a Greek rescue and will send a team to Greece next week to meet with the new government. Spokesman Gerry Rice said IMF officials will join officials from the European Commission and the European Central Bank at the meetings, and negotiations on Greece's 130-billion-euro joint rescue with European partners would happen after the initial visit next week. Specifically, Rice said a separate “negotiating team" from the IMF will visit Greece after the fact-finding visit. The negotiators will discuss the policies Greece must follow to meet the terms of its rescue, he said. “This mission will assess the recent economic developments," Rice told reporters in Washington. “The objectives of the program, as agreed, remain the basis for those discussions, but as we have said before, if the new government has ideas on how those program objectives can be achieved, then we are open to those discussions."
