At least 50 people were killed by landslides in south-eastern Bangladesh during heavy rains, officials said Wednesday. Rescuers retrieved 33 bodies in the remote Lama and Naykhanchhari sub-districts of Bandarban. Fifteen people were killed in the tourism district of Cox's Bazar, and two more bodies were found in the port city of Chittagong, according to a report of DPA. Much of the port city of Chittagong was underwater, forcing authorities to suspend flights at Shah Amanat International Airport on Tuesday. The meteorological department in Dhaka said a strong storm in the Bay of Bengal south of Bangladesh could bring more heavy rain.
