Cyprus on Monday became the latest eurozone country to seek a bailout, the government in Nicosia confirmed, saying it sought money from the emergency European bailout funds. A government statement said that Cyprus was seeking help from the existing European Financial Stability Facility (EFSF) or the future European Stability Mechanism (ESM). Justifying the request, Cyprus pointed to the impact of the crisis in Greece - the banks of both countries are intertwined.
