Thousands of firefighters were battling one of the worst Colorado blazes in a decade Monday, with over 350 square kilometers burnt along with 248 houses, according to dpa. Officials at the National Interagency Fire Center said Monday that high temperatures and strong wind represented "extreme growth potential" for the three large fires burning in scenic areas that are usually packed with tourists at this time of year. According to the NIFC, the Waldo Canyon Fire had burnt over 1,000 hectares Monday morning but there were no reported instances of structure damage.
