A Turkish Air Force fighter jet missing over the Mediterranean Sea was shot down by Syria, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's office said late Friday. The statement read on state-run news channel TRT Haber said both countries were cooperating to locate the wreckage and the two pilots. Turkey's state news agency "Anatolian" reported Friday morning that the plane took off from a military airfield at Malatya at 0730 GMT and lost radar and radio contact when it was over the sea west of the Syrian coast.
