NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen expressed his condolences to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the death of late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. This came during Rasmussen's meeting here today with Dr. Nizar Madani, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Rasmussen said: "The late Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz was a strong statesman served his country with dedication and commitment. He will be remembered around the world for its significant contribution to establishing international peace and security, especially in the fight against terrorism." On the other hand, NATO said in a statement issued by its Media Bureau in Brussels that discussions between the NATO Secretary General and Dr. Nizar Madani focused on political dialogue and practical cooperation activities, within the framework of the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative. The statement added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is an important country in the region, and that NATO welcomes seeing the Kingdom involved in this initiative.
