Two big wildfires are still burning out of control in Colorado and New Mexico, keeping hundreds of people out of their homes. The Colorado fire had grown to 150 square kilometers on Monday. It is burning in a mountainous area about 25 kilometers west of Fort Collins and has damaged or destroyed at least 18 buildings. In New Mexico, a 109-square-kilometer wildfire near the mountain community of Ruidoso has damaged or destroyed 35 structures. National Guard troops have been deployed to help with evacuation efforts. National Guard helicopters have been assigned to both fires.
