UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Antonio Guterres said that 23,000 Syrian refugees in Jordan were registered in the commissioner's official records. Guterres called for providing additional sources of fund from donors, so as to enable Jordan and other neighbors of Syria to receive more Syrian refugees. The UN official on Friday toured the sites of Syrian refugees in the Jordanian city of Ramtha, near the borders with Syria. He underlined the necessity to carry on assistance activities for Syrian refugees, calling on the international community to support host countries, and help them do their part in raising the level of humanitarian aids for the refugees and displaced. Syrian refugees in Jordan are estimated at more than 120,000 according to recent statements by the Jordanian prime minister.
