Chinese Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Li Chengwen held a press conference at the Chinese Embassy in Riyadh today on the occasion of the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF), which was concluded on Thursday. Ambassador Chengwen said the friendship between China and Arab countries goes back a long time, adding that cooperation relations between China and Arab countries are based on mutual respect. He also said that the CASCF ministerial meeting came to discuss ideas for developing cooperation between the two sides. With regard to what is happening in Syria, Ambassador Chengwen said China is following-up with interest the developments in Syria, and was shocked over the incident which occurred recently in the Syrian town of Hula, adding that China condemns in the strongest terms the acts of killing innocent people, especially children and women. Regarding the situation in Yemen, Ambassador Chengwen confirmed that China will continue to push the peace process in Yemen and to provide economic aid for Yemeni people, pointing out that China provided Yemen with 130 million yuan worth of assistance last year and will provide it with 100 million yuan this year.
