A report unveiled today announced that the Israeli occupation authorities did not exclude children from arrest-campaigns of various forms any day. The report said that the occupation authorities arrested tens of thousands since 1967 while during Al-Aqsa Intifada (Uprising) since September 28, 2000 until today. They arrested more than nine thousand children who are under the age of eighteen out of seventy-five thousand arrests. The report prepared by the researcher specializing in the affairs of prisoners Abdel Nasser Ferwana said that Israel has exercised on minor children serious violations and arbitrary and flagrant violations, cruel torture, pressures, blackmails, bargaining and unfair trials threatening their future, contrary to the rules of international law and the Convention on Child that gave them their rights. Ferwana said that Israel still holds in its jails and detention camps nearly 215 children, in circumstances similar to those in which adult prisoners are held in terms of places, cruelty, inhuman treatment, poor nutrition and health care as there is no separation between minors and adults and there is no difference in treatment and cruelty, in addition to the presence of hundreds of prisoners who were captured as children and crossed the age of childhood and still in Israeli prisons. He emphasized that children are subjected to tortures, pressures and blackmails during investigation with them as they are handcuffed, blindfolded, severely beaten, subjected to electric shocks, forced to stand naked or semi-naked in the severe cold and hot sun and deprived of their right to education, continue their basic education and the completion of their study which negatively affects their future.
