Ude, Rajab 10, 1433, May 31, 2012, SPA -- All wildfires have been put out by Thursday in Russia's Trans-Baikal region, sources from the emergencies ministry's main regional department told Itar-Tass. "Over the past 24 hours, two earlier localized fires engulfing an area of 105 hectares have been put out in the Krasny Chikoi and Aksha districts of the region. Fifty-four people assisted by ten units of hardware took part in firefighting efforts," the sources said. This is the second respite for firemen since the beginning of May. The Trans-Baikal region has been hit by a cold cyclone over the past few days, and the cyclone has helped to normalize the fire situation. On Monday, the regional administration lifted the fire emergency regime imposed in the region on March 26 amid forest and steppe fires. A total of 750 wildfires on an area of 390,000 hectares have been registered in the region this year.
