Bahrain's Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa received today the Director General of King Fahd Causeway Organization, Eng. Bader bin Abdullah Al-Otaishan. During the meeting which was attended by Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoub Al-Hamer and Customs Affairs President Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, a brief about development projects was presented, including the establishment of new areas for procedure processing to accommodate more travelers. The meeting also highlighted a project to establish two artificial islands near both sides of the existing land of the causeway to accommodate increasing number of travelers and vehicles in the long run. This would increase the lanes of private cars by three folds and the allocation of lanes and gates for busses as well as more yards and shading locations at the customs inspection area for trucks, to ensure fast processing of applications with accuracy. The current island would be turned to an investment and tourism attraction zone. The Interior Minister hailed the technical study that depends on field surveys. He noted the efforts of the General Organization for King Fahd Causeway and ongoing dedication to enhance performance and services. He also highlighted the importance of the causeway that links the two kingdoms and serves the common interests and the aspirations of the leaders to achieve cooperation and integration in various fields.
