More than 30 overnight aftershocks shook Italy's earthquake-hit northern Emilia Romagna region, dpa quoted officials as saying Thursday. It was the latest wave of aftershocks to hit the area after a 6.0 magnitude earthquake killed seven people and injured about 50 on Sunday. The strongest aftershock registered a 4.3 magnitude and struck shortly before midnight on Wednesday in the province of Modena. No injuries were reported. The government this week declared a state of emergency and said it was setting aside 50 million euros (64 million dollars) for relief efforts, including securing damaged buildings and roads. Relief operations are being concentrated in the areas around the cities of Bologna, Modena, Ferrara and Mantua. The country's main farmers association, Coldiretti, said damage to the agriculture sector tops 200 million euros.
