Formation of a National Unity Government on December 7, 2011 - Conducting the Early Presidential Elections on February 21, 2012. - Transferring power to President-elect Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi on February 25, 2012. - Formation of Military and Security Affairs Committee. - Restoring security and stability and removing armed manifestations from the capital and major cities. - Establishment of the Communication Committee to prepare the ground for the National Dialogue and the Committee on Youth link. It was agreed that the Friends of Yemen should support the political transition process until the end of the 2nd phase of the GCC initiative and the elections in 2014; then the future role of the Friends of Yemen will be evaluated. The Friends are sure that Yemen is facing multiple challenges to be addressed all at one time with full determination and steadiness. They agreed to adopt concrete steps in the political, economic and security fields within the next ministerial meeting on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the United Nations on September, 2012. --More
