Saudi ambassador to Italy Saleh bin Mohammed Al-Ghamdi, who is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Cultural Center in Rome, co-opened the Islamic Cultural Week in coordination of the Mayor of Rome Giovanni Alimano and Secretary General of the center Dr. Abdullah Rudwan. In press remarks following the opening ceremony, the ambassador expressed thanks to the municipality and mayor of Rome for hosting the event, noting that this stands as evidence for the depth of relations between Italy and the Islamic world in general and Islamic community in Italy in particularly. He suggested signing an agreement between the Islamic Cultural Center and the Italian government to benefit from the privileges approved by Italian law for different religious sects. For his part, the Mayor of Rome supported the ambassador's suggestion to forge an agreement organizing the relation between Italy and the Islamic community in Italy.
