Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday reiterated a genuine reconciliation process in Afghanistan which is Afghan-led and Afghan-owned. "This remains the sole viable solution to the Afghan conflict and all efforts should be focused on promoting an Afghan all-inclusive reconciliation process," the President noted. He said this during his meeting with US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton here on the sidelines of NATO summit in Chicago yesterday. Those who were present during the meeting included among others Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, Ambassador Sherry Rehman, Secretary General Salman Faruqui and Spokesperson to President Senator Farhatullah Babar and Foreign Secretary Jalil Jilani and other senior officials, according to a report of the Associated Press of Pakistan. The President said, “Pakistan strongly supports an intra-Afghan and Afghan-led reconciliation process and believes that no military solution alone can find a permanent resolution to the problem of militancy and extremism.”
