e-Shireen and Multan Cricket Club (MCC) scored contrasting victories in the first round matches being played for Madina Cricket Association Zultec Cup here recently. In the first match Qasr-e-Shireen beat Saudi Oger by six wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, Saudi Oger scored 213 runs. Qasr-e-Shireen scored the required runs for the loss of four wickets. Khalid scored 52 runs (3 sixes and 3 fours), while Azher contributed 41 runs. Hamza (23) and Mustafa (18) also added valuable runs to the Saudi Oger total. Manzoor and Ramzan took two wickets each while Qadir, Farooq and Imran bagged one wicket each for Qasr-e-Shireen. In reply Qasr-e-Shireen achieved the target for the loss of four wickets. Manzoor played a fine innings of 79 runs (8 fours). Basheer added 23, Younus 21 runs while Tanveer and Saleem scored 18 runs each. In the second match Multan Cricket Club beat Airport Green by 34 runs. Batting first Multan scored 164 runs in the allotted 25 over. Kashif with 52 runs was the top scorer. Majeed and Asif supported Multan with 34 and 23 runs respectively. Bajaj of Airport Green picked up four wickets from his quota of five overs. Tauseef and Pathan also picked up two wickets each. Airport Green in reply could manage only 130 runs. Ranjeet and Khalid contribution 28 and 26 runs, respectively. Hafiz Imtiaz and Faisal supervized the match.
