STELLENBOSCH, South Africa: World champion Caster Semenya easily won the 800-meters final at the South African University Championships on Saturday, earning her third gold of the meet and ending her domestic season unbeaten in the two-lap event. The 20-year-old Semenya, formerly at the center of a gender-test controversy, added the 800 to the 400- and 1,500-meter titles she won on the first day of the student championships Friday. Running in the colors of the University of Pretoria, Semenya led the field through the first lap and pulled away strongly to win.
