RIYADH: About 200 pieces of artwork by Saudi and Indian women artists are being displayed at ‘Reflections: Women in Art' exhibition opened Saturday at National Museum by Princess Adela Bint Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz, Chairperson, Consultative Committee of National Museum. The art exhibition, Princess Adela said, was a creative and cultural bridge between India and the Kingdom. Such exhibitions broaden people's understanding of artists; and the contact with other cultures enriches the intellect and boosts creativity, she said. The inauguration was attended by Sunita Ahmed, wife of the Indian ambassador and Noura Al-Fayez, Deputy Minister of Education. Around 300 invited guests were also present at the event which also saw an interaction between Saudi and Indian artists aimed at developing people-to-people contacts. During a tour of the exhibition Sunday, Indian Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad said it was not easy to distinguish between Saudi and the Indian artwork unless one cosely examines the caption for each art work.“There is no distinction whatsoever in the works of art by Saudi or Indian artists unless one reads the captions,” he said.
