JEDDAH: Several ministers, eminent Islamic scholars from the Kingdom and renowned personalities from a number of countries including Morocco, Yemen, Thailand, Nigeria, India, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan will be attending the sixth General Assembly meeting of the International Islamic Relief Organization-Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) in Jeddah, Thursday. Addressing a press conference here Sunday, Dr. Adnan Bin Khail Basha, Secretary General of IIROSA, said participants would discuss upgrading the organization's work and boost its various activities so as to be able to cope with the requirements of the contemporary age and to keep pace with the new developments in humanitarian work. Dr. Basha said the General Assembly will consider the recommendations of the 24th meeting of IIROSA's Board of Directors including the approval of the closing accounts of the organization according to the international accounting standards for the fiscal year 1430-31H The IIROSA, Dr. Basha said, has made spectacular accomplishments last year thanks to the continued support of the Saudi leadership, the hospitable Saudi people, philanthropists and welfare lovers. “The achievements, which were reflected on the humanitarian side in all their health, social, educational and developmental aspects, have made a remarkable imprint on the lives of the beneficiaries,” the official said. Dr. Basha said last year the organization provided assistance to 2.88 million people in 58 countries, sponsored 29,296 male and female orphans in 21 Asian, African and European countries and administered 30 homes and centers for the orphans.
