The ordeal of a woman, victim of blackmail for 14 years, ended when the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice arrested a youth in the capital on Saturday. The culprit also allegedly exhorted SR800,000 from her for not publishing her photographs and defame her, Okaz said. The youth was able to get the girl's pictures through her friend under the pretext of marrying her, the Commission said. The girl had to do away with all her university stipend to restrain the blackmailer over the last 14 years. The victim was also forced to sell her jewelry and borrow from her friends to keep the blackmailer at bay. After 14 years of suffering, the girl decided to report her case to the Commission. The Commission members telephoned the blackmailer who was then demanding SR100,000 from the victim, and detained him. Dr. Abdullah Al-Shithri, Director of the Commission in Riyadh, issued directives to expedite taking the accused to court. In another case, a young man in his 20s accused two members of the Commission in Al-Khobar of beating him when he was standing near the gate of a girls' school. He said he suffered a fracture in his left hand in addition to several bruises on his body, Al-Madina reported Sunday. The young man's father said his wife and son had gone to the school to collect her transfer documents. The young man said a member of the Commission came up to him and ordered him to button up his shirt. The young man resisted the order and the argument between them turned bitter when the Commission member and his colleague started beating him and tore his shirt. The father said that the Commission staffers followed him to his car and pulled him out of it. He said he took his son to the hospital which summoned the police. The hospital submitted a medical report as demnade by the father. Col. Yusuf Al-Qahtani, Eastern Province police spokesman, said he has received the medical report which has been referred to the Commission for Investigation and Prosecution. The Director of the Commission in the Eastern Province was not available for comment. __
