Saudi Post will team up with a Makkah-based charity against smoking, as part of a national anti-smoking campaign to be launched at the month-end. Under the slogan the “Nation's Expectation for Youths,” Saudi Post and the Anti-smoking Charitable Association (ACA) will put brochures into mailboxes about the dangers of active and passive smoking. ACA will also organize an exhibition on the danger of smoking and using narcotics, said Abdullah Buflah, campaign coordinator. ACA will also operate a temporary clinic for two weeks to help people wanting to quit smoking. “This contribution of Saudi Post enables Anti-smoking Charitable Association to achieve its goal of ensuring better health in society,” said Abdullah Al-Saroojey, ACA executive manager. He said other institutions and establishments should participate and contribute to the cause. For married men who smoke, ACA's strategy to get them to quit is by educating their wives on how to discuss the matter effectively and sentimentally. “As fathers love their children, so they won't refuse their wishes especially considering the health dangers from smoking in the presence of family members (passive smoking),” said Al-Saroojey. He said the strategy has worked with several smokers who quit after visiting the clinic with their children. __
