ASIR: A citizen here has lambasted certain sections of the media for reporting incorrectly that his housemaid had killed his son, when she had instead stolen money from his house. The homeowner and employer of the maid Musselhati Bint Noon, said she had stolen cash from his thobe and small gold ornaments from his children. The owner, who requested anonymity, said: “The incident took place in 2008. My family informed me that Musselhati had escaped from the house and they discovered this just after waking up in the morning. So I travelled from Rijal Alma' Governorate to my home in Abha and discovered that she had stolen SR5,000 to SR6,000 in cash and small gold ornaments worth SR800.” He said he was astonished when he read later that the maid had thrown one of his sons from a window. “(How can it be believed that I reported) the theft of cash and small gold ornaments and not murder?” Maj. Abdullah Sha'than, spokesman of Asir Region Police, apologized to Okaz/Saudi Gazette for not being able to give any statement on the matter. He said a clarification would be issued by Asir Region Police soon to explain all the circumstances of the case.
