(Saudi Gazette photo by Fouzia Khan)JEDDAH: The German Consulate General reopened its visa application center in Jeddah, Wednesday, after a break of almost five years. The new center was inaugurated by Muhammad Ahmed Tayeb, ambassador in the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Makkah region, Prince Faisal Abdullah Al-Faisal, president of Al-Etimad Modern Business Solutions company, and Dr. Michael Zickerick, German Consul General in Jeddah in the presence of a number of Saudi and international dignitaries. Prince Faisal expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the German Consulate General and said that they had been working together for more than a year to have German visa services provided in Jeddah. He said that this would help to enhance the relationship between the Kingdom and Germany and provide more services to the people of both communities. “We will soon provide more space for this center and add more facilities,” Prince Faisal added. Ambassador Tayeb said that he also appreciated the efforts made by the German Consul General and his cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and said that these efforts and the new services provided will strengthen the bilateral relationship in all fields of cooperation between the two nations. Consul General Zickerick said everyone had worked hard to open the new center which will simplify visa application procedures. “The visa center will be in operation from Saturday. In the beginning you will have to bear with us a little, but in due time everything will hopefully run smoothly, and I am sure this will be a big change for the benefit of the community,” he added.
