RIYADH: A number of top companies have joined hands to launch an awareness campaign for water conservation in Saudi Arabia. Officials of the participating companies said the campaign, “Our water, our life”, is part of their corporate responsibility to help improve the quality of people's lives in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia. The campaign will highlight not only the scarcity of water and its conservation but also encourage university students to come up with ideas on how to conserve water. Students joining the campaign will have the chance to get award for innovative ideas on the importance of water and how to save it for the future generation. Basil Al-Ghalayini, chairman of the BMG Foundation said the campaign aims at encouraging people in the region to conserve water. A series of activities are lined up to support the water conservation awareness campaign. The activities include Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) polo cup named after King Abdullah, “Among the activities that we have been undertaking for the past 15 years addresses the crucial issue of water preservation,” Al-Ghalayini said. Dr. Faysal Alaquil, CPC director for business development and administration affairs, said his company joined the drive because it “addresses the crucial issue of water conservation.” Other company executives who were at the press conference were: Fahad M.I. Abunayyan, group deputy general manager of Ibrahim Abunayyan Sons Group, and Mazen Mehio, managing director of Satchi & Satchi, a multinational PR and advertising company.
