JEDDAH: There has been an outpouring of emotions from the Indian and Pakistani community at the death of Moin Akhtar, the legendary actor, comedian, impersonator, host, writer, singer, film director and producer. Asimuddin Ansari Razi, an Indian national, said he was “deeply shocked” when he heard the news of the passing away of the “great artist”. “Moin Akhtar was an artist who contributed a lot to society through his work and he was a legend. All his fans in India, Pakistan and all over the world will now feel there is a vacuum in the film and entertainment industry. No one can replace him; he was one of a kind. May Allah rest his soul in peace,” said Razi. The famous Indian singer, Talat Aziz, said that he had met him in Los Angeles a couple of years ago and found him to be a “thorough gentleman and one of the finest artists I have seen on stage and TV. May Allah grant him Jannatul Firdous”. Lata Haya, an Indian artist, only had praise for his work. “The king of stage, television and comedy, Moin Akhtar was a man of personality. An artist like him is born once a century. He was the man who always spread happiness and laughter. Today he left us with sadness. Heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. Moin Akhtar will remain in our minds and hearts forever,” said Haya. Dr. Anwar Khursheed from Taif also offered his condolences to Akhtar's family. He said it was a moment of great sorrow not only for Pakistanis but for all Urdu lovers. He shall be remembered for his great ability to perform in a perfect way. Saleh Fazlurrehman Siddiqui, an Indian national, said: “It is a great loss to the world of comedy as well as Urdu speaking community across the globe.” Dr. Tanweer Hasan Zaman, a Pakistani national, said Akhtar was a “comedian par excellence. He highlighted the evils of society through his comedy act, it will be hard for anyone to replace him”. Akhtar was equally popular among young people. “He was a good person and a fantastic actor. May Allah rest his soul in peace,” said Zoya Malik, a Pakistani university student. Wilayat Owaisi, another youth, said that Akhtar was a great Pakistani actor and comedian. “He was one of my favorite actors and a very talented person. May Allah bless his soul,” he said. Munir Ahmed, another Pakistani national, said Akhtar knew how to spread happiness and was an excellent comedian.
