DAMMAM: The number of complaints received by the branches of the Human Rights Commission (HRC) in the central, western and eastern regions of the Kingdom during the first quarter of this year has reached 1,454. Muhammad Al-Madi, Director of Media at the HRC, said the complaints pertained to issues like prisoners' rights, financial and labor complaints in addition to cases pertaining to parents who prevent their daughters from getting married or reuniting with their husbands after being divorced. He said the HRC has provided legal assistance to complainants and pursued 50 cases with the relevant authorities pointing out that the commission has opened two new branches in Jouf and Abha. Ibrahim Asiri, Director of the commission's branch in the Eastern Province, said the branch has supervised the training course held by the commission on human rights indicating that the course strengthened the bridges of contacts with the security authorities.
