RIYADH: Prince Dr. Mansour Bin Mit'eb Bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Monday signed contracts for 17 municipal projects worth SR421 million. Contracts for the Jeddah Governorate include a project for the second phase of developing the Corniche and seafront, at a cost of SR45 million with a contract period of 14 months; and a project for developing its third phase, for SR94 million with a contract period of 18 months. Contracts signed for the Makkah Region include a project to deal with the problems of collecting rainwater in low-lying areas in the districts of southern and western Makkah, at a cost of SR39.5 million with a contract period of three years; a project for the engineering operation of the road maintenance administration system in Makkah, at a cost of SR9 million with a contract period of three years; and completion of maintenance of some pedestrian bridges in Makkah, at a cost of SR1.3 million with a contract period of 18 months. Other projects in Makkah include a concrete box canal in Batha Quraish Planned District, at a cost of SR11.4 million with a contract period of two years; and another concrete box canal from King Abdul Aziz Sports City up to the open canal in Baroud Valley, at a cost of SR22.8 million with a contract period of two years. There are several other projects in the Madina and Riyadh regions.
